Ballance & Symmetry

This clock was donated to the company whose land the stone was found on and it’s on display in the lobby outside the program director’s office.

Other variations made from the same stone are currently available in the shop. Look at #532, #531 #530

Who says normal every day things can’t also be beautiful?

This clock was made from a stone I found in western MA. Two slices from this live edge stone are bookmatched with a black epoxy strip between them. Bookmatching is a technique used in woodworking and stonework where two or more pieces are cut from the same, in this case, stone and arranged to create a symmetrical, mirror-like pattern.  Imagine a stone being cut in half and then opened like a book. The stones are grey with heavy striated patterns of black and white quartz, polished to a high shine to create this 5.75” wide by 21.25” tall masterpiece.

A solid copper wire bonsai tree decorates the bottom with bright shiny leaves and a liver of sulfur blackened trunk. The top of the clock features custom Godwood "flame" shaped hands and stylized diamond shaped numbers at 12, 3, 6 and 9, all black, balancing out the entire piece.
