This clock was made from a stone I found here in western MA. Two slices from this live edge stone are bookmatched with a translucent frosted epoxy river between them. Bookmatching is a technique used in woodworking and stonework where two or more pieces are cut from the same, in this case, stone and arranged to create a symmetrical, mirror-like pattern. Imagine a stone being cut in half and then opened like a book. The stones are grey with heavy striated patterns of black and white quartz, polished to a high shine to create this 9” wide by 21.75” tall masterpiece.
A baren (no leaves) solid copper wire bonsai tree is centered on the bottom and I imagine the epoxy as a waterfall behind the tree. The top of the clock features custom Godwood "flame" shaped copper hands and stylized diamond shaped copper numbers at 12, 3, 6 and 9, all with a natural green/blue patina.
