This clock features one of my favorite stones that I’ve ever cut into, in fact it includes two slices from this special stone, bookmatched to create a stunning “Rorschach” like pattern. Bookmatching is a technique used in woodworking and stonework where two or more pieces are cut from the same, in this case, stone and arranged to create a symmetrical, mirror-like pattern, made al the more extraordinary when a highly figured materials are used. Imagine a stone being cut in half and then opened like a book. This stone had a natural vein which separated while being sliced. But in true ‘lemons make lemonade’ fashion, I cast these in green epoxy filling these separated veins to create a continuity to match and compliment the bookmatching of such a uniquely patterned stone. The green mica colored epoxy is in-itself a work of art with a dappled great feel of depth.

A stainless steel wire tree peaks out from behind the left side, with silver “flame” shaped clock hands and diamond shaped numbers at 12,3,6,& 9, tying the whole concept together to create a stunning 7.5” round clock, 10.75” wide including the tree.
