#538
This clock measures 6.5” wide by 21.5” tall (16.51cm x .54.61cm). I found this stone in western MA and combined two slices to create this bookmatched slab. Bookmatching is a technique used in woodworking and stonework where two or more pieces are cut from the same, in this case, stone and arranged to create a symmetrical, mirror-like pattern. Imagine a stone being cut in half and then opened like a book. Running down the center is a brilliant blue stripe of epoxy adding color and contrast to the grey stones, speckled and streaked with black and white striations.
This clock features custom Godwood "flame" shaped copper hands and diamond stylized copper numbers at 12, 3, 6 and 9 in black. A solid copper wire bonsai tree sprouts from the bottom right corner with the trunk naturally blackened with liver of sulfur while the leaves remain a shiny copper.
