Every stone that I cut into is a surprise. You can usually tell if a stone is going to have some extraordinary features, but sometimes they are disappointing, like a stone that just reminds you of Halloween, my favorite holiday, but not a basis for my brand of art. But sometimes what shows up is a stone like this. Something completely unexpected and gorgeous. This stone blends softly between shades of reddish brown, to darker greys, with sharp veins of sandy yellows outlined with dark brown.
This 8.5” wide by 8.5” tall clock is polished to a high shine and adorned with flame painted solid copper, diamond stylized numbers at 12 and 3, and a wire bonsai tree on the left side. Flame painting is a unique art form that can take copper and transform it into a colorful masterpiece using a blowtorch to discolor the copper into many vibrant hues. It’s finished with solid dark walnut hands.
