This clock features two green and white marbled, bookmatched stone slices. Bookmatching is a technique used in woodworking and stonework where two or more pieces are cut from the same, in this case, stone and arranged to create a symmetrical, mirror-like pattern. Imagine a stone being cut in half and then opened like a book. These are then rotated slightly to create a contrasting non-symmetrical element to the piece and cast into a 14” round shape with swirling black epoxy. In the spirit of finding animals in clouds, the marbling in to stone reminded me of a women’s face with either long hair or wearing a shawl, and with the two mirrored stones, it looks like two sisters, back to back in a moment of serene contemplation.
The clock is fitted with a premium quality, American Made Mini Quartz Movement with custom flame shaped copper hands and Godwood classic diamond shaped copper numbers at 12, 3, 6 and 9, all with a natural green/blue patina.
Finishing it off are two 100% solid copper wire, “barren” bonsai trees (no leaves) also with a natural green/blue patina.
